I

t was not the perfect sunny day that had been predicted all week, but it was good enough for Keith and Heather to guide us on a beautiful walk through the Sussex countryside. The initial route they intended to follow proved too long for our purpose, so they needed

to spend additional time modifying it in order that we had sufficient time to explore Sheffield Park. Even though it was the shortened version, there were still plenty of rickety stiles for us to practice on. These, plus a delayed start, meant that we had to forgo the planned brief pub stop, but we were all in good spirit and no one complained.

We arrived at Sheffield Park at 13.30. This gave us sufficient time to explore most of the extensive grounds as well as fitting in lunch and coffee breaks.

At this time of year the park is ablaze with colour. The trees are startling by themselves, but with the reflections in the many lakes, even without blue skies, the effect is very impressive!

We all enjoyed a fabulous day - thanks Keith and Heather!
